style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em><u>WHAT IS EVALUATION?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Evaluation is a process that leads to the <strong>hidden<\/strong> <strong>privatization of the public<\/strong> <strong>school. <\/strong>It has been applied for decades in other countries (see USA, England, Australia, Sweden, etc.) with disastrous results. More specifically:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Schools are now being transformed into small enterprises. <strong>They will<\/strong> <strong>be looking for <\/strong><strong>sponsors<\/strong> to provide the necessary means for them to operate, while teachers will be evaluated based to their ability as <strong>competent managers<\/strong> so as to attract capital.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Schools will henceforth be compared to each other and will be divided into &#8220;good&#8221; and &#8220;bad&#8221;. A school <strong>will be characterized as &#8220;bad&#8221; <\/strong>when it has not been able to <strong>secure through sponsors the funding<\/strong> for its heating, maintenance, etc., <strong>when its students perform<\/strong> <strong>poorly<\/strong> \u00a0compared to the students of other schools, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Panhellenic examinations<\/strong> are being organized for the sixth grade of primary school, aiming to relate school\u2019s evaluation with student\u2019s performance and subsequently school\u2019s funding. \u00a0Exams fill children with anxiety, turn the whole year into a preparation for the tests and the subjects that are not tested (all but Language and Mathematics) are sidelined. They eliminate joyful and creative learning \u00a0through playing, \u00a0debates, arts, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> Parents<\/strong> <strong>will have to pay more<\/strong> for their chidrens\u2019 education if their school happens to underperform in its evaluation, and therefore it will be underfunded.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The next step will be to give the parents themselves the opportunity to choose a<strong> school, <\/strong>between the &#8220;good&#8221; and the &#8220;bad&#8221;. <strong>Will ALL parents have the opportunity to choose the &#8220;good&#8221; school though? NO, not really. In the end, schools are those who choose their students, since &#8220;bad&#8221; students will be a threat <\/strong>to school\u2019s success and consequently, to its funding!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Evaluation is part of the same policy that needs to privatize tertiary education<\/strong>, the later having <strong>excluded 20000<\/strong> students by means of <strong>\u201cMinimum Basis admission<\/strong>\u201d during the last few years, so as these \u201cfailed\u201d students <strong>become private college clients<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em><u>We want a school of knowledge and freedom,<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em><u>a school that does not separate but unites, a school that does not exclude but embraces!<a href=\"http:\/\/www.a-athinon.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/\u03c0\u03c1\u03cc\u03b2\u03bb\u03b7\u03bc\u03b14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13900 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.a-athinon.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/\u03c0\u03c1\u03cc\u03b2\u03bb\u03b7\u03bc\u03b14-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.a-athinon.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/\u03c0\u03c1\u03cc\u03b2\u03bb\u03b7\u03bc\u03b14-300x199.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.a-athinon.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/\u03c0\u03c1\u03cc\u03b2\u03bb\u03b7\u03bc\u03b14.jpg 547w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Public education belongs to no minister or sponsor! <strong>It only belongs only to its pupils and its students, <\/strong>therefore any change introduced should only be to <strong>their own best interest!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>The Ministry of Education does not really care about <\/u><\/strong>education,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">since it is solely responsible for our schools\u2019 shortage of teachers from the beginning of the school year, for reduced <strong>\u00a0funding every year,<\/strong>\u00a0 for \u00a0the \u00a0<strong>unsuitable buildings<\/strong>\u00a0 and \u00a0<strong>poor infrastructure. \u00a0<\/strong>The Ministry is solely to blame <strong>for taking no measures to space out students in classrooms<\/strong> amid coronavirus\u2019 \u00a0on the contrary, \u00a0last year <strong>increased the number of<\/strong> <strong>students<\/strong>\u00a0 per class!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As during the pandemic, we, together with our students and parents kept the school alive while the Ministry allowed the exclusion from e-elearning of those children that did not have a laptop or an adequate microphone or a fast internet connection\u00a0 or&#8230; once again we call on you\u00a0 <strong>to prevent any child or school to be excluded from equal rights to education, and to prevent education from being dependent on any sponsor!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>We are part of a society fighting for a better tomorrow. We experience what you experience, we are on the same side and not opposite, as the ministry would like.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>We are against evaluation system not out of laziness but out of concern for our students and for the future of the society they will have to live in.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>We call on you to fight together to defend equal access to education for all children, to defend schools\u2019 public character!
